I am currently doing the following, as suggested by this page:

chown root:root -R /var/httpd/server/fengoffice

chown root:apache -R /var/httpd/server/fengoffice/cache chown root:apache -R /var/httpd/server/fengoffice/config chown root:apache -R /var/httpd/server/fengoffice/tmp chown root:apache -R /var/httpd/server/fengoffice/upload chown root:apache -R /var/httpd/server/fengoffice/public/files

chmod 775 -R /var/httpd/server/fengoffice/cache chmod 775 -R /var/httpd/server/fengoffice/config chmod 775 -R /var/httpd/server/fengoffice/tmp chmod 775 -R /var/httpd/server/fengoffice/upload chmod 775 -R /var/httpd/server/fengoffice/public/files

But I am not sure giving apache -rwx to /config is a good idea. Why does fengoffice require a 7, shouldn't a 6 be sufficient?

Marcos Saiz, 2010-04-29 17:12

any idea why i got the following error after install, and it does not work…

Deprecated: Call-time pass-by-reference has been deprecated in C:\wamp\www\fengoffice\environment\functions\general.php on line 579

thanks, faruz

Marcos Saiz, 2010-08-09 09:48

It will be solved in 1.7.1. Is can be suppressed by setting allow_call_time_pass_reference to On in your php.ini.

Installing version 1.7 gives an internal server error (error 500) if the permissions are not correctly set. This forum thread give the answer : you need to set folder permissions to 755 in order to be able to access the installation wizard : (also check the video link in the thread)

It would be useful to have a folder structure with the required permissions, or at least uder “Installation”, add a step to set the permissions correctly :

* * * * * * * * * * *

For a fresh installation, follow these steps:

* Download Feng Office from * Unpack the downloaded archive on your local hard drive. * Upload the files to your web server using a FTP client (i.e. FileZilla or CyberDuck). * Set the file permissions to 755 (make sure it is done recusrively on the whole directory (and 775 or 777 on some hostings on /cache, /config, /tmp, /upload, /public/files ???) * Create a new MySQL database for Feng Office using your preferred database administration tool (i.e. phpMyAdmin).1) * Direct your browser to and follow the installation procedure (or see the detailed installer manual).

MOVING FENG MADE DOCUMENTS UNREADABLE I tried to create a copy of feng. Every thing is fine - except the documents. Not one single document is readable, they are all flawned if not to say ruined. I have been searching for hours, to find a solution or at least a reason. How can I make the documents of a feng-copy (I suggest they're stored in /upload) readable.

I have recently installed Feng ( on one of my domains and works perfectly. I have now downloaded the latest version of Feng to install on another domain (1.7.4). I have uploaded it and attempted to run the installation. I receive the following message in the web browser window:

require_once dirname(__FILE__) . '/include.php';

// Prepare and execute
require_once INSTALLER_PATH . '/installation/installation.php';
if(!isset($installer) || !is_object($installer)) {
  die('Installer not prepared.');
} // if

$installer->executeStep(array_var($_GET, 'step', 1))

I have attempted the installation several time, including re-uploading all of the files to the server again with no luck.

I have even copied my existing installation onto the new domain (hosted by the same provider), made the recommended modifications to files, and it also will not run.

Please can someone help me with this!!

Could you please help me out, guys? I tried to move the FO installation as instructed above. Didn't move the files from the previous installation, though - uploaded the new version of FO instead (the 1.7.5 rc 2). Then I: - updated the config - deleted the autoloader - changed the permissions but I'm getting this error message when I'm trying to navigate to the new location: “Error We are sorry, but a fatal error prevented Feng Office from executing your request. An Error Report has been sent to the administrator.” Many thanks in advance!

I would suggest checking if the uploads and tmp folders are correct as well.. and also turn the debug on (in the config.php file) to look for further issues. You ought to look at the forum for further feedback about this.
